Motherpedia launches to target Aussie mums
New Australian website Motherpedia, aimed at the potentially lucrative niche of online mothers has launched today.
The site is the brain child of Kate McQuestin, who trained as a journalist before working in government and PR roles, most recently with News Digital Media.
McQuestin said that the site would also share 20% of its advertising revenues to good causes.
She said: “Motherpedia.com.au will provide mums with a platform to ask questions of other mums and communicate their experiences, ideas and tips for everyday life in a supportive environment.
“They will also be able to have their say on topical issues via our interactive forum The Natter, save money on great deals via motherpedia’s Mummy Savers and connect to mum friendly product and services through our directory.”
The site was developed by Tonic.
What about us poor dads?

There are already so many of these sites. I wish them luck but it will take them a while to play with the big guys in essential baby and bub hub.

Yawn.
Today’s mother acts like they are the first to ever have given birth. Get over yourselves.

It is indeed a very crowded market. There are 75 Australian pregnancy & parenting websites currently listed with MediaScope.
Best wishes to you Kate – I have huge admiration for anyone who has the fortitude and determination needed to execute their idea.

http://www.motherpedia.net/ and .tv still available, plus .com is a squatter – I’d probably have tidied those up before pressing send on the release.

Well done, Kate. Your articles are refreshing and topical. Importantly, they do not seem to have any commercial imperitive. Well done for supporting good causes that are socially responsible.
