Mumbrella announces new publisher

Mumbrella has today announced the appointment of a new publisher for the company.

Adam Lang, who has 30 years’ experience in commercial music, television, radio and digital media, has officially taken on the position this week, working out of Mumbrella’s North Sydney office.

Lang has held a number of high-level positions throughout his career, including CEO of Macquarie Media and national director of operations and general manager of 2DayFM and Triple M in Sydney. He takes on the publisher position alongside some separate projects, including the Fear and Greed business podcast, which he co-founded.

“I have been a fan of the Mumbrella brand for a long time, so I am very pleased to play a role here,” Lang said.

“Mumbrella is dedicated to covering everything under the umbrella of media and marketing. We have a great editorial, events, and commercial team to highlight the best work in our industry, examine the insights we need to know and celebrate achievement. It takes a lot of heavy lifting to bring that work to light and we are excited to do it.

“Especially at this time, alongside the normal competitive and vigorous pace of our industry, critical factors such as cost-of-living pressure and technology opportunities gives brands, marketers, media buyers, and communicators a daily need for the best coverage. We want to curate the content that each member of the industry needs to know, no matter what role they play, to operate at their best.

“Australian media and marketing should lead the world and Mumbrella’s newsletter, website, and events should be the resources that the industry uses to help.”

With his decorated and diverse industry background, Lang will oversee the editorial side of the business, as well as boost the commercial and events side with his extensive knowledge and experience.

David Longman, managing director of Mumbrella’s parent company, Diversified Communications, welcomed Lang to the role today.

“Adam brings extensive industry knowledge and a strong business background that blends the unique requirements of the editorial and commercial sides of the business,” Longman said.

“We are very fortunate to have someone with his knowledge, experience and passion for Mumbrella’s audience at the helm as we look to the future of Mumbrella.”

Lang’s appointment rounds out the editorial team, with the company announcing Neil Griffiths as editor last week. They will be supported by deputy editor, Nathan Jolly, journalists, Kalila Welch and Lauren McNamara, and editorial assistant, Matthew Leong.

Lang said the future is bright for Mumbrella with the next year alone set to be a big one.

“We have just had over 1,000 responses to our Mumbrella survey and will be diving deep into the insights that will bring,” he said.

“We have launched Mumbrella360 (21-23 May 2024) at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, the event will be headlined by former Nike chief marketing officer and author, Greg Hoffman.

“We will be launching CommsCon shortly and we are going to make sure we deliver the content that will help to keep our industry competing on the world stage.”
