mail online5:13pm – The Mail Online has continued its drain on the News Corp journalist stocks taking the news editor and high profile reporter from the Sunday Telegraph.

4:37pm – Southern Cross Austereo’s CEO Rhys Holleran has told Mumbrella he’s pleased with today’s court result, adding it will come as a relief to all broadcasters, as it means the ACMA cannot rule on whether criminal offences have ben committed. He said: “If we’re going to be found guilty of a crime it should be before a judge. It’s just an authority felt they had the power to look at the matter and make a judgement themselves.”

4:05pm – Regular ABC Insiders host Barrie Cassidy is set to take a long service break to write a book, leaving Radio National’s breakfast host Fran Kelly to present the Sunday morning show, taking over from April 27. She said she’s looking forward to a few months of sleep ins as she vacates the radio chair – her replacement has not yet been named.

 3.18pm – The story has been updated. We were incorrect to say the verdict had been postponed. The four week reference was in fact in relation to confidentiality around an element of the case. In fact, 2Day FM has won this round. ACMA must now decide whether to appeal the ruling. Apologies for our mistake.

3.15pm – Standby – our first take on ACMA appears to be incorrect. Update in a few moments

2:38pm – Well that was a big anticlimax – judges have postponed their ruling in the ACMA and 2DayFM case (see 2:12pm) taking four more weeks to decide on the case.

2day FM 22:12pm – The judgement in the latest round of the Southern Cross Austereo v ACMA case is set to be handed down in the next few minutes. It could see the suppression of a report from the ACMA into the death of nurse Jacinta Saldhana suppressed, or released.

1:51am – They may finally have reached number one in the FM radio ratings in Sydney this week, but that didn’t stop WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda having a crack at a viral video, courtesy of an eyewitness at the Barangaroo fire earlier this week:

1:30pm – Crikey is on the hunt for a new editor as Jason Whittaker is set to take the editorship of its son to be launched sister title The Mandarin, aimed at civil servants.

CommsCon-Awards 201412.50pm – If you haven’t booked your ticket for next Thursday’s CommsCon Awards, you’re running out of time. As an added incentive to get in before bookings for the PR awards close at noon on Monday, we’ve just shared the news that Australia’s funniest journo Joe Hildebrand will be doing the honours.

12.45pm – The Mumbrella team are big fans of the Primo bacon ad, although copywriter Bernie Watt points out via Twitter that it bears a resemblance to a Doritos ad.

12:32pm – Two interesting stories in the Melbourne media agency world where Ikon MD Trudi Sampola has been moved to a national talent role, and MediaCom is facing a battle to retain the $14m RACV account.

11:52am – Morry Schwartz has made headlines recently for The Saturday Paper launch, but it’s his magazine The Monthly hitting the news today with a new editor, while Schwartz himself has been made an adjunct professor of journalism at RMIT.

11:33am – Here’s one of the more interesting ads going on TV this weekend – a new spot for Primo Bacon from Ogilvy Sydney. Fans of American Beauty will get it.

11:21am – Last night ITV Studios held a swanky bash in Sydney with some of their celeb mates, and Seven West MEdia CEO Tim Worner. However, it was host James Valentine’s comments on Come Dine with Me that caught Dr Mumbo’s ear.

10:40am – TV ratings are in this morning, and The Block has continued its Thursday dominance with its biggest weeknight audience yet. Seven’s ‘news special’ on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight also won its timeslot.

10:20am – Right – we can all pack up and go home, News.com.au officially wins the clickbait of the month award with this headline:

9:45am – The Checkout last night took issue with a statement given to Mumbrella by Swisse following last week’s segment on its Chlorophyll product. You can see what Julian Morrow had to say at 3:35 into this clip.

9:21am – An interesting piece of gossip has emerged in the Australian Financial Review tipping the Nine Network to buy out APN, linking it to its radio and outdoor assets since it took 100 per cent control of the Australian Radio Network. However, APN recently sold off its remaining stake in APN Outdoor, leaving it with a 50 per cent share in Adshel, and would Nine really be interested in the floundering print side of the business too?

Seven Sunday Night schapelle Corby8:46am –  The Australian Federal Police has dropped its investigation into whether Seven paid for an interview with Schapelle Corby saying an Indonesian investigation supersedes it. However, it has not ruled out the possibility money did change hands between the network and convicted drug smuggler.

8:34am – Nine has scrapped its production of telemovie Mayday Mayday: The story of flight QF32 which was to tell the story of the near-disaster on the ill-fated Qantas flight from Singapore to Sydney as Screentime could not secure funding for the project, writes TV Tonight.

8:21am – This morning The Australian has the story that its proprietor and everyone’s favourite octogenarian media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame this week, having owned and run TV stations for 55 years. He was of course “greeted with a standing ovation” after his speech in which he admitted “not every gamble paid off”

8:09am – How’s about this for one of the greatest newspaper corrections of all time. It comes from the Brighton Argus paper in the UK. It appears someone really got their goat. The mind boggles at how any of this came to pass.
