Top stories:

4:44pm – Box office results from the weekend are in, and it was a big win for X-Men again, which held off new release Maleficent with a stonking result. Seth MacFarlane’s new film A Million Ways to Die on the West which came in third, check out the trailer here.

3:14pm – Saturday was World no Tobacco Day, and to celebrate it Quit commissioned M&C Saatchi to make a series of Vine videos to highlight how a smoker dies every six seconds, the same length as the clips. Check them out here.

1.40pm – Dr Mumbo has the goss on how Ten is being forced to pay out the rest of a $200,000 fibre optic contract to Manly despite having axed Wake Up. Read about it here.

12.19pm – Fairfax Media has announced new proposals regarding redundancies which would see the publisher scale back the number of redundancies by 18 full time staff, to between 50-60 full time positions, as the voluntary redundancy program opens today.

11:24am – Tomorrow sees the next round of radio ratings. Here’s Triple M’s  Eddie McGuire talking to Southern Cross Austereo head of content Craig Bruce about what makes a good breakfast show, and how to build an audience.

11:12am – Dr Mumbo apologises for this, but here’s the latest World Cup earworm for you – try getting Zinedine Zidane out of your head…God love you Les Murray.

10:49am – TV ratings are in, and last night’s emotional interview with Mel Greig on Seven’s Sunday Night, grabbing 150,000 more viewers for the show on last week. The Voice continued its total domination of the night.

9:55am – In the Australian Financial Review Rowan Dean takes a serve of Chicken Tonight, and why the brand felt it had to apologise for the “abomination” of its ads in the 90s (paywall).

9:21am – News from REA Group this morning as Tracey Fellows, the general manager of communications services for Australia Post, named as the new CEO. She was previously head of Microsoft in Asia Pacific.

8:22am – In case you missed it over the weekend Ten revealed it is bringing back Family Feud and it will be fronted by Grant Denyer as the cornerstone of its early evening lineup. Promises to be lively.
