Top stories:

4:53pm – Big news for fans of cult series 24 – the latest instalment Live Another Day has premiered with a feature-length episode in the US. Ten launches it on its main channel on Monday, but is trying to counter the piracy issues by showing it tonight on its TenPlay platform. It’s only going to be available for 24 hours though (oh the irony). Here’s a teaser:

4:41pm – There’s an interesting opinion piece on the Sydney Morning Herald’s website lauding the ABC’s Q&A last night for some genuine reality TV because of the student protest which disrupted it (see 9:51am).

3:13pm – If you missed Studio 10 this morning, you missed this little gem. Joe Hildebrand performing a delicate dance with just a towel to protect his modesty.

2:34pm – Don’t forget to check out our FYI section today. ADMA has announced the lineup for its Global Forum, SBS has revealed plans for its enhanced multiplatform approach to Eurovision this weekend and News Corp’s Leader Community Newspapers launched its third annual Local Grants Program for community projects in Melbourne.

1:50pm – It seems the reign of the watermark is over, with the Daily Telegraph posting all the images revealed so far (with more than 50 sold there are a lot we haven’t seen) of the Packer v Gyngell brawl unadulterated on their website.

1.03pm – The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has launched a Video Advertising Council in an effort to push industry debate and discussion around the video offerings and products in the industry. Full story here.

12.55pm – Well the Gyngell and Packer story just keepings going… NSW police are now investigating the brawl on a suburban Bondi street with legal experts telling us the pair could face possible public order offences. Read the story here. 

Also worth checking out this story on Nandos who thought it would be ok to use the $200,000 in their social media advertising. Unsurprisingly the copyright image holders objected. Story here.  

12:05pm – Office Choice has introduced Joan the office manager, inspired by Mad Men’s buxom redhead Joan Holloway, for its latest campaign. See the series of ads here.

11:27am – Dr Mumbo struggles to make sense of the new ads from home builders Simonds – which bares more than a passing resemblance to Breaking Bad.

11:09am – It seems watermarks are are en vogue with Ten Eyewitness News the latest to add their branding to some slightly dodgy images of what is believed to be James Packer getting out of a car at his office, ina  garage, as the door closes. They do take a more subtle approach than News Corp did though.

Answers For Adam 10:27am – The Packer v Gyngell fight and ABC protest (see 9:51am) have caught the eye of Adam Ferrier, who asks if these displays of passion are a good thing for our normally conformist society.

9:51am – The ABC has put up the footage of last night’s student protest which halted Q&A for five minutes.

Highlights include host Tony Jones telling protesters “you’re doing yourselves no favours”, and the chant “Chris Pyne get out, we know what you’re all about” at which point Pyne chimes in “does this mean you won’t have me again?”.

9.13am – TV Ratings are in and Nine’s The Voice topped the night pulling 1.98m viewers while Seven’s House Rules drew 1.085m. Ten will be happy with the audience for its debut of Masterchef which had an audience of 874,000.

8.48am – Meanwhile in the media the jokes about News Corp’s watermarking of the Packer Gyngell photos continue. Here is Studio Ten and News Corp columnist Joe Hildebrand making a joke about how they will not be watermarking their TV show…

8.19am – Seven had too much fun last night, broadcasting live outside Nine to cover the street fight.

8.14am – Good morning all, Mumbrella Editor Alex Hayes has been on Ten’s Wake Up talking about yesterday’s street fight  between James Packer and David Gyngell. Not only did they manage to cover the street fight, but James Mathison also professed his love for Alex, clarifying quickly that he only meant he loved having him on the show.
