Maroubra is no where near the Sutherland Shire! In fact it’s in eastern suburbs of Sydney, so a 20-30mins short of Cronulla. Think you need a geography lesson 🙂

Slightly rich of you to bitch about ads in between tracks on Spotify when you have commercial radio ads littered through your podcast 😉 It’s commercial reality that allows the service to be free for end users. We deal with it on FTA TV and for other digital services like Hulu (and of course Spotify) in the US and across the globe, its standard business.
There’s the argument that users of these tools are actually more engaged and have higher recall of these types of ads, so I’d argue advertising with the right placement and context (like the Jag ads alongside jazz artists as mentioned in the podcast) is actually highly effective on a platform like Spotify. I look forward to seeing commentary around the results once the service launches. Would be great to interview and get some industry perspectives on this to include (rather than just referenced quotes) in future commentary.
Why the change to the “mumbrella studio” rather than where you guys recorded before?

Hi The Internetz,
I’d argue we weren’t actually bitching about the likely ads on Spotify – more acknowledging the likely realities…
We’ll be back at CBS Interactive next week. This week we were experimenting with a new podcasting microphone (you’ll be able to read our review of the Yeti Pro in next month’s Encore maagzine. Not to preempt the review: great mic, but our office’s echoey, tall roof is not podcast friendly.)
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
