On Monday evening, Mumbrella broke the news that WPP had been asked by Coles to withdraw from its RFP, in search of a bespoke agency model, as the brand became aware of an upcoming conflict, that being the group’s production hub, Hogarth getting into bed with cross-town rivals, Woolies. The following morning, Mumbrella then revealed Accenture Interactive had been added to Coles’ invitational list, returning the list to three. In this section, the team discusses the wider repercussions for both retailers, how the year may play out for both, and how their burgeoning retail media businesses may be set to play a major role.
