Naomi Watts to front Jacob’s Creek campaign

Australian film star Naomi Watts is to star in an upcoming campaign for winemaker Jacob’s Creek range Cool Harvest.

The role was secured by a personal friend of Watts, Emma Cooper, a publicist who runs International Celebrity Relations, a firm that launched in March to connect Hollywood stars with Australian brands.

This marks the first Australian campaign starring Watts, who has starred in films including David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s 21 Grams.

Naked Communications is behind the campaign targeting ‘younger women’, which will involve PR, digital, print and point of sale.

Jo Adamo, global marketing director of Orlando Wines, which runs the Jacob’s Creek brand, said: “With a new range of products targeted at a specific demographic, we needed to bring a fresh approach to this campaign while also staying anchored in the Jacob’s Creek masterbrand. The campaign platform of ’embrace true friendships’ has given us an intuitive and solid foundation to build on with a series of multi‐platform executions.”

The client confirmed that the campaign does not mean the end of Jacob’s Creek’s relationship with above the line agency Euro RSCG, which was behind the global ‘true character’ campaign.
