Neil Shoebridge’s consultancy to handle APN Outdoor communications

APN Outdoor has appointed Shoebridge Media Group, the new consultancy founded by Ten’s corporate communications boss Neil Shoebridge, as its in-house communications unit.

Commencing from late May, Shoebridge will operate in-house communications three days a week, reporting to general manager of marketing, Charlotte Valente.

The new team (L-R): Neil Shoebridge with marketing boss Charlotte Valente and CEO James Warburton

The appointment comes a week after Shoebridge announced his exit from Network Ten after six years. Shoebridge was formerly editor and managing editor of Fairfax’s BRW magazine and, before that, marketing and media editor for the Australian Financial Review.

APN Outdoor’s Valente said she was thrilled to have the group join APN Outdoor.

“Neil’s credentials will ensure APN Outdoor capitalises on every opportunity to cement our thought-leadership credentials, a key pillar in our strategy,” Valente said.

James Warburton, CEO and managing director of APN Outdoor said it was great to be working with Shoebridge again. Warburton was previously Chief Executive of Network Ten but was terminated by the Board in early 2013.

“A focus for our business is to have a greater voice in the media industry. Neil will bring a huge level of knowledge and respect to our communications strategy and activities,” Warburton said.

Shoebridge described the new company as an “industry leader” in the outdoor sector.

“I’m looking forward to working with APN Outdoor, its senior management and its marketing and communications teams,” Shoebridge said.

“The APN Outdoor leadership team have a clear strategy focused on transformation, innovation and the evolution of APN Outdoor in the broader media eco-system and I’m excited to be part of that”, he said.

Shoebridge Media Group will start working with APN Outdoor on May 29.
