Netflix ANZ launches Substack newsletter Pause with Junkee

Netflix Australia has launched Pause, a subscription email newsletter in collaboration with Substack.

Pause will encompass three free newsletters, all sent out weekly, covering the latest in screen culture, with writers Adam Liaw, Bec Shaw, Brodie Lancaster and more involved.

Michael Sun, Netflix culture editor

Netflix culture editor at Junkee, Michael Sun said: “I’m very excited for you to hit pause with us on new Netflix releases by diving deep into niche obsessions, existential questions, and unexpected themes, all through the lens of film and TV.”

The email subscription will include Scene & Heard, sent out on Tuesdays, which sees a guest writer reflecting on a single scene from a recent Netflix release. On Thursdays, Close All Tabs features a roundup of articles, interviews, memes and other content regarding Netflix shows and films.

The third mail out, Now Streaming, features Sun unpacking a new Netflix title, alongside some recommendations and thoughts.

Sun added that Pause will make Netflix the first Australian Media brand to publish through the subscription platform Substack.

Junkee won the Netflix ANZ social media and content account in April 2020.
