Netflix makes social media play with new ‘Moments’ feature
Netflix is launching a new mobile feature aimed at encouraging viewers to share key scenes from their favourite shows.
Moments lets Netflix mobile users record and save key scenes and share them online, “empowering its fans to discover, share and enjoy their next favourite stories,” according to a Netflix release.
More accurately, it acts as a nice viral mechanism for Netflix, allowing fans to share key scenes and highlight Netflix’s wide-ranging slate of content.
The company explains: “Let’s say you’re watching the latest season of Bridgerton on your phone and want to save the scene where Colin and Penelope share their long-awaited kiss in the carriage. All you have to do is tap Moments at the bottom of your screen, and it’ll automatically save to your My Netflix tab.”
Moments can be stored and saved in your phone, and shared on Instagram and Facebook.
Moments will be launched with a global brand campaign called ‘It’s So Good’, featuring “some of the most beloved and memorable moments that captivated fans worldwide”.
The feature launches today on iOS and in the coming weeks on Android.
