New retail agency Pencil&Pixel aims to link traditional and digital
A long-time creative director of David Jones and a former founding managing director of DDB in Melbourne have combined forces to launch a new advertising and creative offering, Pencil&Pixel which follows the mantra ‘Ideas, Handmade’.
Andrew Henderson and Andrew Williams launched the new agency, which is based in both Sydney and Melbourne, which will aim to leverage their combined 30 years in retail with the business primarily focused on retail and fashion.
Henderson told Mumbrella: “We’ll bring to the market an incredible depth of knowledge on the retail business. We’ve both sat within large, multinational ASX-listed businesses so we really do have a unique understanding and we look forward to bringing that experience to the market.”
Henderson left his role at David Jones in mid-September after 10 years to launch the new agency, telling Mumbrella that it was the “right time”.
While the agency is yet to announce a client roster, or team hires, Henderson told Mumbrella that the company is “poised for rapid growth”.
“We’ve got four or five clients that we hope to be able to announce by the end of November in a range of categories, but mostly branded retail in Sydney and Melbourne but also some luxury travel out of Hong Kong and a philanthropic organisation with some global reach,” he said.
The duo describe the angle of the business on their website as “Pencil is the back-to-basics approach we take. Pixel is the ‘new normal’ of the technology we embrace.”
Henderson said: “We’re going to be very focused on excellence, we’re bringing back craft to our work. We’ll be an equally focused business on digital and traditional media.”
