New editor for Girlfriend magazine
Sarah Tarca has been announced as the editor of Girlfriend Magazine days after it was reported that Sarah Cornish had stepped down to undergo cancer treatment.
In her editor’s letter to readers, Cornish said: “I’m not good at goodbyes or anything that might lead to tears, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. This is goodbye. Farewell, and lots of love.”
Today’s announcement from Pacific Magazines made no mention of Cornish’s illness. Tarca was previously beauty and features editor at Girlfriend, which is read by teenage girls.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity. I look forward to playing a key role in the magazine’s future direction, with the support of our talented team.”
The magazine is in a tough market. In its latest set of Audit Bureau of Circulations data its circulation dropped by 10% to just over 90,000.
How sad for Sarah. I hope she’s okay xx
