Gogglebox draws 181,000 on Lifestyle channel as new episode of Big Bang pulls 833,000

The return of Gogglebox on Foxtel’s Lifestyle channel last night drew 181,000 national viewers well up on its 2014 debut, which had 146,000 viewers last year. 

Screen Shot 2016-04-07 at 10.04.31 amMeanwhile on free-to-air TV a new episode of Nine’s reliable performer The Big Bang Theory pulled 833,000 metro viewers but was still dwarfed in by Seven’s juggernaut My Kitchen Rules, which won the 7:30pm slot with 1.301m metropolitan viewers.

The result for Big Bang was up on last week, when Nine ran just repeats, and appeared to come at the expense of Ten’s Long Lost Family which last night attracted 453,000 viewers, down from 502,000 last week. The ABC’s 7.30 program had 664,000 viewers. 

Criminal Minds drew 747,000 viewers in the 9:00pm time slot, while at 8:30pm the ABC’s Charlie Pickering had 590,000.

In the news race, Seven News won the 6:00pm bulletin with 1.028m compared with 976,000 for Nine, but lost out at 6:30pm with Nine pulling 1.014m compared with 967,000 for Seven.

Seven had the highest main channel audience share with 24.4%, Nine had 17.8%, the ABC 12.6% and Ten 10.6%.
