New international boss for Channel 10 under Paramount reshuffle

Network 10 has a new international boss, after the A$12 billion takeover of its parent company Paramount Global by Skydance Media was finalised last week.

Skydance has appointed former NBCUniversal international chair Kevin MacLellan as Paramount Global’s president of international and global content distribution, with a remit that includes overseeing Network 10, as well as Channel 5 in the UK.

MacLellan served as NBCU’s chairman of global distribution and international between 2013 and 2020, where he oversaw the company’s TV and digital businesses outside the US. Prior to that, he was the company’s president of international television, from 2011 to 2013, and held executive roles at HBO and Sony Pictures.

MacLennan will report to former CBS boss George Cheeks, who is now chair of the TV Media division, one of three segments in the new-look Paramount.

Cheeks will control broadcast and cable assets, which includes Network 10, while former Netflix executive Cindy Holland will lead Paramount’s streaming division, which includes Paramount+ and Pluto TV, both of which also operate in Australia.

Josh Greenstein, former Sony Pictures president, will head up Paramount’s studios arm.

With the overseas division of broadcast and cable, and streaming TV, its unclear who local boss Beverley McGarvey will report to.

As president of Network 10, it would follow that MacLellan is her direct boss, however as head of streaming, it would also make sense if she is to report into Holland and the streaming division.

Mumbrella has contacted Network 10 and Paramount Australia for clarity regarding the new reporting lines.
