Digital agency New Republique has appointed Robert Hutchison as strategy director as it seeks to “transform from pureplay digital to a full service creative agency”.

The appointment follows the agency letting go ECD Becky McOwen-Banks early last month, making the role redundant as it restructured.

Hutchison joins the agency following a year and nine months of freelancing, with his most recent full-time role as director of strategy at at Bread & Butter Research & Strategy wrapping up in October 2012.

In a statement he said: “Together with New Republique I’ll be creating a new strategy product and a range of services that go beyond digital to incorporate brand, media and data in a unified service offering. This will further set us apart from other agencies and ultimately benefit our clients as we create greater proximity between consumer, product and brand.”

Prior to Bread & Butter, Hutchison spent around a year and a half as regional director, youth (APMEA) for TNS, less than 6months as APAC qualitative head for Research International and 2 years as director strategic planning at DDB Indonesia.

New Republique CEO Nima Yassini said: “We’re thrilled to have Robert on board at this exciting time. His expertise will guide our strategic transformation as we integrate the complexity of digital with all brand communication channel for greater amplification.”
