News Corp announces Ainslee O’Brien to lead its audio network

News Corp Australia has announced Ainslee O’Brien as the head of its audio network, News Cast.

O’Brien, who has been with the company since 2015, will assume the role immediately and continue her current role as general manager of the commercial networks division of News Digital Networks Australia (News DNA).

OBrien has been with News Corp since 2015

Under her new remit, O’Brien will evolve the operating model and best practice for audio across News Corp, including managing the content offering, platform and commercial and subscriber model.

News Corp announced its investment in podcasting at its showcase, Come Together, earlier this year. It comes off the back of success with podcasts including The Teacher’s Pet and Who the Hell is Hamish.

News DNA managing director Julian Delany said O’Brien’s track record made her the perfect choice for the role.

“Ainslee has a proven track record in the business, in particular her outstanding work in establishing and growing our News Native Network platform,” said Delany.

“I’m delighted she will now spearhead News Cast, evolving our audio strategy and identifying new opportunities and partnerships, while continuing to lead the commercial networks division of News DNA.”

O’Brien has been with News Corp since February 2015, when she joined as product, sales and strategy director for news.com.au. Prior to that she held a number of commercial roles across Fairfax Media over six years.

O’Brien said: “I am incredibly excited to expand my role and lead News Corp Australia’s audio network. News Corp has bold ambitions for audio, both here and globally, and we are committed to delivering a strong audio network for our consumers and our customers.

“I look forward to working with our colleagues globally to align our audio offering and with industry bodies locally to establish a measurement discipline.”
