News Corp appoints Del Fordham as head of audio

News Corp has named Del Fordham as head of audio for News Cast, the media company’s audio network, effective immediately.

In the role, he’ll lead the audio strategy for the network, working alongside News Corp’s brands and editorial teams on original audio.

Fordham’s appointment is effective immediately

Fordham will report to Ainslee O’Brien, News Digital Networks’ general manager of commercial networks and head of News Cast, who said Fordham will be “instrumental” in leading audio efforts.

“I’m delighted that we have someone of Del’s business and audio aptitude joining the business,” she said.

“He will be instrumental in driving the acceleration of our audio network and continued investment in high quality audio storytelling. With bold ambitions for NewsCast and our commitment to delivering a market leading audio network for our consumers and our customers, we’re thrilled to have Del leading the next phase of expansion.”

Fordham has 15 years’ experience working across content creation, aggregation and innovation with radio stations, podcast networks, on-demand platforms and audio production companies. Previous workplaces include the ABC, Southern Cross Austereo and Nova.

“I’m excited to be joining News Corp Australia at this time of rapid growth in audio,” Fordham said.

“I’m passionate about original productions, on-demand content and bringing together different creators and content pillars to create synergies. Our growth strategy and upcoming original content slate will only build on the great momentum NewsCast has.”

News Corp’s podcast portfolio includes Who The Hell is Hamish?, The Teacher’s Pet, The Matty Johns Podcast, and Life and Crime With Andrew Rule.

In October, the company formed a podcast partnership with Nova, which will see them amplify the reach and commercial scale of their podcast line up.
