News Corp launches editorial and ad campaign for Feed Appeal

News Corp has launched an editorial and ad campaign for Feed Appeal, running two months from Sunday, 9 June.

News Corp Australia will combine the power of Food Corp, Australia’s largest food media network, with the local know-how of regional and community mastheads to broaden their support of Feed Appeal, helping to solve the problem of everyday Australians going hungry.

Feed Appeal exists to nourish communities and feed Australians in need and is the national evolution of the Leader Community News and FareShare Feed Melbourne campaign, which has raised over $5 million for more than 280 food relief charities in Victoria since 2008.

The two-month editorial and advertising campaign across Food Corp publications including delicious., taste.com.au, Super Food Ideas and Australia’s Best Recipes, aims to raise awareness of hunger as a community issue that needs a community solution, asking readers to raise funds and provide hope for people going hungry.

Coverage kicks off this Sunday, June 9 with premium food brand delicious. on Sunday lending their authority on food issues with a confronting cover story titled “Four Million Australians Will Go Hungry This Week”.

delicious. Editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum said: “We think delicious. has an audience that cares, an audience and commercial partners that are capable of helping, and who would want to make a difference, particularly once they find out the statistics.

“delicious. on Sunday in the Sunday Telegraph and the Sunday Herald Sun will be able to reach a broad audience to get the stats out there. If we can show people easy ways they can get involved to reduce both hunger and food waste, we feel we can help generate the momentum to make change.”

delicious. on Sunday will join cover stories across News Corp Australia’s print and digital mastheads News Local, Messenger News, Leader Community News and Quest Community News during a two-month editorial campaign to promote Feed Appeal, as well as a four week, full-page advertising campaign across metro and regional mastheads.

Penny Fowler, News Corp Australia’s Community Ambassador said: “The collaboration of our newspapers, magazines and websites across the country will help give a voice to everyday Australian families who rely on food charities in their local community.

“We are proud to be supporting a campaign that empowers local charities to help those less fortunate.”

Every dollar donated to the Feed Appeal will provide two meals to Australian’s going hungry and will go towards increasing the capacity of food relief charities, two-thirds of which cannot keep up with demand.*

Katherine Gokavi-Whaley, Feed Appeal CEO said: “News Corp Australia is playing a critical role in building a community to fight hunger by highlighting the problem, empowering readers to make a tangible difference and then sharing stories of hope about the difference they’ve made.”

News Corp Australia’s integral role in the Feed Appeal campaign is part of the company’s News in the Community initiative, helping to build a better Australia.
