News dominates Wednesday TV, Seven wins the night
Wednesday night television has seen a news-dominated line up with Seven winning the night thanks to a 20.1% overall average audience share.
Seven News was the most-watched program of the evening managing a metro audience of 934,000, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
Comparatively, Nine News managed an audience of 899,000 for the 6pm news.
Nine finished in second place for the evening with a 19% audience share ahead of ABC’s 12.7% share, Ten’s 8.9% and SBS’ 4.6%.
The most watched non-news program of the evening was ABC’s Hard Quiz hosted by Tom Gleeson as it scored a metro audience of 664,000.
Airing at 7:30pm Seven’s Instant Hotel attracted 611,000 viewers, beating Nine’s Family Food Fight which saw 489,000 tune in.
Nine’s movie Jurassic World was the most watched in the 16-39 demographic while Seven’s Instant Hotel was the most popular in the 18-49 demographic.
In the 25-54 demographic Seven News was the most-watched program.
Once regional numbers were added to the mix – including broadcasts on affiliate stations – Seven News’ audience climbed to 1.410m and Home & Away became the most-watched entertainment program with 1.076m.
