NIB sounding out agencies in market on $10m media pitch

NIB logoPrivate health insurer NIB Health Funds is thought to be preparing for a media pitch, talking to several large agencies.

Mumbrella understands that, while the insurance company is in talks with incumbent Ikon Communications for a further 12 month renewal, it has been sounding out various agencies ahead of a future media pitch.

A spokesperson for NIB downplayed any approaches saying they were not in market for any media agency “at this stage”, but confirmed that the media account would be up for renewal in 2015.

“As a business we regularly speak to a range of media organisations regarding industry issues, developments and potential future relationships,” said a NIB spokesperson.

“NIB is not in market for any media agency at this stage, however can confirm it is in the process of renewing its agreement with Ikon for a further 12 months.”

Ikon recently enjoyed a major victory by retaining its foundation client the Commonwealth Bank.

The win was a boost for the agency which had lost a string of clients in the last year including DiageoVodafone, Coca-Cola, and RACV WA.

According to Nielsen, NIB Health Funds had a main media spend of $9.9m in the 12 months to September 2014.
