Nick Kyrgios’ Wimbledon meltdown helps 7Two to a decent share as The Voice remains strong

Last night 394,000 viewers tuned in to witness the start of Australian Nick Kyrgios loss to Richard Gasquet in round four at Wimbledon on 7Two from 8.30pm, with 369,000 viewers hanging around to see the conclusion of the match in the late session.

The controversial Aussie star’s appearance helped 7Two grab an audience share of 7.5 per cent overall, including 8.7 per cent in Melbourne and 8.5 per cent in Adelaide, according to OzTam’s metro overnight ratings.

Meanwhile, Nine won the night with a share of 22.7 per cent as The Voice raked in 1.473m metro viewers from 7.30pm, up on last week’s 1.397m. It was the most-watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54).

It out-rated Ten’s cooking competition Masterchef which was watched by 1.102m while Seven’s House Rules managed a metro audience of 972,000.

Ten settled for third place behind Seven’s 16.9 per cent with a share of 15.1 per cent as the ABC posted a share of 14.6 per cent.

Nine’s Lip Sync Battle held strong on its second outing, with a metro audience of 1.087m at 9.10pm, easily out-rating the return of Seven’s The Blacklist at 9.15pm which pulled in 578,000 metro viewers.

On the ABC, Q&A saw its audience drop 169,000 viewers, posting a metro audience of 628,000 after the controversy over the Zaky Mallah affair helped the show pull in 797,000 metro viewers last week.

Also on the ABC, part one of Gina Rinehart’s Australian Story, airing at 8pm grabbed 862,000 metro viewers and Four Corners, on at 8.30pm, was watched by 801,000.

In news, Nine News delivered the channel 1.261m viewers at 6pm and 1.157m at 6.30pm. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 1.024m, dipping to 980,000 from 6.30pm.

In breakfast TV, Seven’s Sunrise pulled in 299,000 metro viewers while Nine’s Today was watched by 242,000.
