Nicki Williams promoted to director of sales APAC at Buzzfeed

Buzzfeed’s group client director of APAC, Nicki Williams, has been promoted to director of sales, taking over as lead for local business at Buzzfeed Australia.

Williams first joined Buzzfeed in 2017 and has held a number of roles during that time. She will now replace Andrea Ingham who left the business in March.

Ingham left Buzzfeed to relocate to Adelaide with her family and has said she will use the time to launch her own consultancy.

“I’m really excited about the move. I’ve had the most amazing experience building and leading incredible sales teams over the last 20 years, at Buzzfeed, as well as Spotify, SCA, Nine and Nova. And now I’m looking forward to what’s next in my life as I return to my home town of Adelaide,” she told Mumbrella ahead of her departure.

Although Buzzfeed has closed its news operations in Australia, it will still offer commercial and client services in the region, led by Williams. She will work alongside creative lead Julia Willing and supervising producer Evelyn Bevans, reporting to vice president of client partnerships Andrew Guendjoian.

Buzzfeed Australia still delivers content across the Buzzfeed network, including Tasty and Bring Me.

In May, Buzzfeed announced it would no longer have Buzzfeed News coverage in Australia and the UK, although some staff would be retained in both markets. It hasn’t been the only media casualty in the last weeks – ViacomCBS’ 10 Daily has also closed and Vice has dropped 150 staff globally, including some in Australia.
