Nine adds new programs and talent to 2024 lineup

Nine has shaken up its 60 Minutes lineup, at the same time announcing two new shows.

At a launch in Melbourne today, it was revealed that investigative journalist Dimity Clancey and national and international news correspondent Adam Hegarty will join the current affairs program alongside Liz Hayes, Tara Brown, Nick McKenzie and Amelia Adams.

Both additions are already known to Nine audiences, with Clancey having spent time at 9News and A Current Affair, while Hegarty joined the 9News lineup in 2018.

60 Minutes executive producer, Kirsty Thomson, said: “It’s wonderful to embark on a new year by welcoming Dimity and Adam to our line-up of reporters. They have an enormously exciting job ahead of them, and I have no doubt they’ll succeed in ensuring the program remains a cherished Sunday night tradition for millions of Australians.”

“As the years unfold, our audience continues to grow, not only on traditional free-to-air television but also across the 9Network’s dynamic streaming and social media platforms. I look forward to seeing what everyone at 60 MINUTES can achieve in 2024, knowing our commitment is fuelled by an incredible energy and the unwavering drive the program has long been celebrated for.”

Clancey said the opportunity to “contribute” to 60 Minutes “legacy” was “a dream come true”.

“What excites me is that the program’s consistent ability to foster meaningful conversations and drive positive change aligns with my passion for storytelling that matters.”

Hegarty added: “It’s the program every journalist aspires to be a part of, and I feel privileged to join its esteemed ranks.”

Tipping Point will be hosted by tennis commentator Todd Woodbridge

In addition to 60 Minute’s new lineup, Nine announced the launch of game show Tipping Point on January 29 at 5pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Based on the UK show of the same name, the program is set to replace Millionaire Hot Seat, which has retired from its nightly 5pm timeslot after 25 years.

Hosted by tennis commentator Todd Woodbridge, the new show will air every week night, testing contestants on their ability to beat the Tipping Point machine for a chance to win $20,000.

Also joining Nine’s 2024 programming is new series Do You Want to Live Forever, which will premiere later in the year with hosts Tracy Grimshaw and medical expert Dr Nick Coatsworth.

Produced by Lune Media, the program will follow four pairs of everyday Australians as they undergo medically supervised trials and health interventions in attempt to live longer.

Tracy Grimshaw said: “This project was Nick Coatsworth’s idea and I’m really looking forward to working with him on it. I’m keen to explore exactly what a long life will look like.  While in honesty I really haven’t spent my life looking for the fountain of youth, I’m fascinated by how far people are taking that search, and how advanced medicine is becoming in that space. I’m a bit of a medical nerd so the research has been a pleasure.”

Dr Coatsworth said: “For centuries people have been captivated by the idea of living forever. I am extremely excited to be working with the highly respected Tracy Grimshaw on this new series. Together, we will follow eight everyday Australians as they positively shift the dial of their health and longevity.”
