Nine appoints new CFO

Nine has announced that Martyn Roberts has been appointed as its new chief financial officer, the day after delivering its full-year results.

Roberts comes from Ramsay Health Care, where he was CFO, and previously held the same role at Coca-Cola Amatil. Prior to this, he held senior executive roles at Woolworths and Louis Vuitton.

He replaces acting CFO Graeme Cassells, who had been in the role since October 2024, and will start at Nine on September 7.

Roberts will report to Nine CEO Matt Stanton, who praised his “extensive experience across a range of consumer-related industries” in an ASX announcement. This experience, “together with his financial pedigree and ASX-market experience, makes him a great fit with Nine”, Stanton said.

He continues: “I’d also like to acknowledge Graeme Cassells who stepped into the role as acting CFO, and was a great support to me particularly as we worked through Nine2028 and the sale of our stake in Domain.”

Cassells will remain with Nine until his retirement at the end of the year.

Roberts said he is excited about joining “a great Australian company.”

“The recent sale of Domain has left the group with a strong balance sheet to capitalise on its leading market position in media in Australia,” Roberts continued.

“I am similarly convinced of the growth opportunities of the business and look forward to working with the Board and Matt and the team to ensure we can optimise the performance of Nine’s portfolio of media assets.”
