Nine crowned the winner of UnLtd Big Splash, raising $90K for charity

The industry’s social purpose organisation, UnLtd, held its third annual Big Splash sailing regatta over the weekend, raising $90,000 for charity in the process.

The event normally takes place in March, but was moved to October due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the team from Nine was crowned victorious.

Participating teams were joined by a professional sailor to learn some tips, before racing across Sydney harbour from Rushcutters Bay.

The event was sponsored by Verizon Media and supported by ACM, Group M, JC Decaux, Little Colossus, Ten, Nine, Nova, Ooh Media, Publicis, Seven West Media, The Guardian and Val Morgan.

$90,000 was raised for children and young people at risk, and UnLtd CEO Chris Freel said it was worth the seven-month wait for the latest Big Splash.

“We’ve been delighted to be able to safely bring back some of our in person events after such a long wait,” Freel said.

“Big Splash was another great opportunity to bring our industry together after a challenging year to raise much needed funds for our charity partners. It was a fantastic day out and worth the seven month wait!”

Verizon Media AUNZ managing director Paul Sigaloff said it was a great day out for team building and networking.

“It was great to be able to once again support the UnLtd: Big Splash and the important work that UnLtd does,” he said.

“It was a brilliant day out for team building and networking, all whilst enjoying the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour.

“The result is just incredible and will go a long way in making a difference to so many young people at risk.”
