Nine finally to air AFP
The Nine Network has announced that it is finally to air Zapruder’s Other Films’ long-awaited documentary series on the Australian Federal Police later this month.
AFP, which has been more than two years in the making, will go to air on Tuesday April 26, the last evening of the Easter long weekend.
Zapruder’s Other Films – the production company behind The Gruen Transfer and Hungry Beast – is run by Andrew Denton and Anita Jacoby.
Jacoby is AFP’s executive producer, while Jennifer Byrne narrates.
AFP was filmed in eight countries including Indonesia, Colombia and the Philippines and follows operations including people smuggling investigations; counter terrorism; bomb disposal, international drug syndicates; child sex exploitation and disaster victim identification.
As well as footage shot by Zapruder’s other Films, the show uses surveillance, warrant and arrest footage shot by the Australian Federal Police.
The first episode includes a look at the AFP’s targeting of people smugglers.
The Tuesday slot is a potentially tough one for the show as it is a night dominated by Seven’s dramas Winners & Losers and Packed To The Rafters.
However, it also has a relatively easy audience target to beat. Tuesday night’s episode of Mike & Molly rated just 791,000 in the 8pm timeslot.
Soundtrack’s a bit low key.

Shouldn’t this show be called ‘Keystone Cops’

I wondered when they would notice the AFP, it will make a change from having the invincible AFP and a raft of US City Poilice Forces, and the unbeatable poms shoved at us. I just hope it doesn’t dramatise too much, because: Its Not! Just bloody hard work and understanding wives.
