Nine puts Sherlock up against X Factor and Junior Masterchef

Nine is to run one of British TV’s big hits of the year in a timeslot aimed at blowing Ten’s Junior Masterchef and Seven’s The X Factor out of the water.

Sherlock – a modern version of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes created by Doctor Who show runner Steven Moffat and The League of Gentlemen’s Mark Gatiss – averaged about 9m viewers for each if its three 90 minute episodes in the UK. A further series of three has already been commissioned.

Nien will air the shows at 8.30pm on Sunday October 17, Monday October 18 and Sunday October 24. Junior Masterchef returns after the Commonwealth Games at 7.30pm on October 17.

Seven’s talent contest The X Factor airs on Sundays and Mondays at 7.30pm.
