Nine scores a win on Thursday evening with help of NRL coverage
Nine finished ahead of all free-to-air rivals on Thursday night, with the help of news and current affairs, an NRL clash and The Footy Show.
The most successful program for Nine was its 6pm news bulletin, which finished with 894,000 metro viewers. But the performance of the NRL clash between the Brisbane Broncos and Parramatta Eels – 388,000 across Sydney and Brisbane – coupled with The Footy Show’s 387,000 metro viewers, saw the channel defeat Seven’s 17.2% main channel share and Ten’s 16.6%.

From 7pm through to 8:30pm on Seven was Home and Away, which pulled 549,000 metro viewers. Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, which ran from 8:30pm on Seven, did not making OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings top 20.

ABC and SBS’ shares were 9.6% and 4.9%. But in total network share – which includes the multi-channels – Seven Network snatched another win off Nine Network, with a 28.7% share over Nine’s 27.4%.
