Nine secures third consecutive win for 2017 as cricket dominates
The second day of the Third Test secured another comfortable ratings win for Nine, with viewers once again tuning in to watch Australia take on Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The evening session airing in the 3.10-6pm timeslot was the most watched non-news program of the night, managing an average metro audience of 831,000 viewers.
With cricket dominating Wednesday night television, Ten’s Big Bash League pulled 805,000 viewers as Sydney Thunder took on the Melbourne Stars at Spotless Stadium.
Airing at 7pm, the Big Bash League was the most-watched program across key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54, according to OzTam’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.
Despite coming off second best in the Big Bash match, Melbourne drew more viewers, with 309,000 tuning in, compared to Sydney’s 168,000.
In the evening news battle, Nine managed 1.057m viewers with help from the cricket audience, while Seven saw an average of 961,000.
In overall audience share for the evening Nine secured an average of 18.1% while Seven gained traction with 17.0%, leaving Ten in third place with 16.6%.
