Nine wins the first week in surveyed TV ratings for 2020
Driven largely by another successful week for Married at First Sight, Nine has won the first surveyed week in TV ratings for 2020, taking a 30.0% network share.
Seven held a 26.6% share as a network, Ten 17.7%, ABC 17.7% and SBS 8.0%.
In the channel shares, Nine was again the winner with 21.9%. Seven held 17.4% and Ten 11.4%. The most-watched multi-channel for the week was 10 Bold with 3.9%.
Of the seven days of the first ratings week, Nine won five of them, with Seven sneaking ahead on Thursday and Friday. The biggest night for Nine was Wednesday when MAFS hit a series high for the first dinner party of 2020, driving it to a metro audience of 1.178m.
Nine took the top spot in the key advertising demographics of 25-54s (40.9%) and 16-39s (41.7%) and had four of the top shows on the week in MAFS.
Wednesday and Monday night’s episodes of MAFS were the two most-watched, followed by Tuesday and Sunday’s episodes. Seven News took the fifth, sixth and seventh spots, followed by Nine News which rounded out the top ten in total people.
In the key advertising demographics of 25-54 and 16-39, Ten’s Australian Survivor: All Stars snuck in three episodes, holding fifth, sixth and seventh place in both top ten programs for the week. MAFS again held the top four spots in both demos.
The below graphs were compiled by Nine and exclude ABC and SBS. As such, the data may differ from the figures reflected in the above story.
