Nine wins the night as the Aussies give Pakistan cricket lesson

The Australian cricket team’s easy handling of Pakistan on day one of the first test at the Gabba in Brisbane, helped deliver the night to Nine.

During the 7pm session on Nine 643,000 viewers tuned in to watch as captain Steve Smith’s stellar innings placed Australia in a commanding position.

Coverage of the evening session took in 6th place for the nights ratings.

Seven’s Home and Away at 7pm managed 627,000 compared to last weeks 606,000, according to OzTam’s metro overnight preliminary ratings.

In the same time slot Ten’s The Project drew 417,000 viewers.

Also on Ten, David Attenborough’s Fabulous Frogs, which aired at 7.30pm, obtained 335,000.

Airing slightly after at 8pm and running through Ten’s David Attenborough’s Fabulous Frogs, Seven’s Border Security: America’s Frontline, lost traction with 335,000 viewers, down from last week’s 473,000.

Family Feud at 6pm on Ten managed 349,000 viewers .

In the 6pm news battle Seven won the crown with 1.048m viewers while Nine News, which started at 6.20pm due to the cricket running over time, saw 824,000 viewers.

Nine News was the most watched program across all major advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49, 25-54) for the night.

In total audience share Nine won the night with 23.2% beating Seven’s 17.7% while ABC managed 11.5%, Ten 11.2% and SBS 3.9%.
