Nine wins the TV ratings week as Ten slips to fourth with just 8.4%

Ten’s share of total people for the sixth week of the official ratings period put it in fourth behind Nine (24.1%), Seven (22.2%) and ABC (12.2%). The channel’s total people share of just 8.4% only beat SBS, which had 4.5% of the audience.

Nine’s dominance can largely be attributed to the success of the final few episodes of Married at First Sight – the finale of which is now 2018’s most-watched show of the year.

Married at First Sight has been a ratings powerhouse for Nine in Q1 of 2018

The last episode of MAFS had a record-making 1.753m tune in across the five metro cities and overtook the Australian Open tennis final as the most-watched show.

Nine also dominated in the key advertising demographic of 25-54s, where it commanded a 28.0% share compared to Seven’s 22.0% and Ten’s 10.6%. Nine also won 16 to 39s (30.9%) and 18 to 49s (29.5%).

Once the networks’ multi-channel offerings were added to the mix, including 7Flix and 9Life, Seven narrowly edged ahead. The Seven Network had a 32.2% total people share, just ahead of Nine’s 31.6% and well in front of ABC’s 16.5%, Ten’s 13.2% and SBS’ 6.5%.

The official ratings period is now on a two-week break for Easter, with ratings season recommencing on 8 April.

Despite the break, Ten launched Bachelor in Paradise on Sunday evening.
