Nine wins TV and streaming rights to 2018 US Masters Golf Tournament
The Nine Network has won the television and streaming rights for the 2018 US Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
Previously aired across the Seven network, Nine will now air all four days of the golf tournament from April 5 to April 8, along with Wide World of Sports offering three live video streams on 9Now. The network is yet to decide which FTA channel the competition will be broadcast on.
Along with Nine, Fox Sports will also be airing the competition as the subscription television broadcaster.
Three of the four days of the US Masters Gold Tournament will be aired during the Easter non-ratings period.
Tom Malone, director of sport at Nine, said in a statement: “The Masters is the most premium golfing event on the sporting calendar, which aligns perfectly with Nine’s sporting rights and corporate strategy.
“While the Masters is no longer on the anti-siphoning list, our partnership with Augusta National to make free-to-air coverage available to viewers illustrates our shared goal of bringing the Masters to all Australians.”
Hope they didn’t pay much.
