Nine’s premiere of Gallipoli grabs 1.1m but I’m a Celebrity’s Bachelor ploy fails to lift audience

As the official ratings year continues to heat up Nine launched its drama series Gallipoli, with the premiere episode grabbing a metro audience of 1.104m at 8.30pm, as a slew of shows charting the battle are set to hit the screens in the coming weeks.

Nine offered up two episodes of the show with the second dropping to an audience of 804,000 at 9.30pm. The channel has also made the entire seven-part series available on Stan, the first time it has done so.

The premiere of the series was the second most watched show overall and the second most watched show amongst the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.

My Kitchen Rules was the most watched show pulling a metro audience of 1.656m in the 7.30pm to 9pm timeslot, up on it’s debut of 1.596m metro viewers last week.

MKR was the most-watched show across all the demographics and easily out-rated Nine’s The Block: Triple Threat and Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The Block was watched by 919,000, up from last week’s audience of 802,000.

Ten’s I’m a Celebrity saw 614,000 metro viewers tune in for the intruders entry to the jungle, which saw The Bachelor Tim Robards and girlfriend Anna Heinrich enter camp.

The rest of the episode grabbed an audience of 651,000 metro viewers, according to preliminary overnight figures from OzTam. It was down on last week’s audience of 755,000.

It was once again out-rated by the ABC’s 7.30 which was watched by 826,000 metro viewers.

Seven won the night with an audience share of 24.7 per cent, while Nine grabbed a share of 22.1 per cent. ABC managed a share of 14.4 per cent as Ten settled for a share of 10.9 per cent.

Also on the ABC, Australian Story at 8pm pulled an audience of 853,000 while Four Corners at 8.30pm was watched by 549,000. Media Watch at 9.20pm lured a crowd of 638,000 and Q&A at 9.30pm was watched by 686,000.

Seven’s 9pm movie Pitch Perfect had an audience of 642,000, outrating Ten’s Law & Order: SVU which was watched by 327,000. A second episode of Law & Order: SVU at 10pm had an audience of 211,000.

In news, Nine News at 6.30pm was watched by 1.080m after grabbing a 6pm audience of 1.071m. Seven News at 6pm pulled an audience of 966,000 while Seven News/Today Tonight at 6.30pm was watched by 963,000.
