Nissan’s marketing boss Tim Stuckey ousted

Tim Stuckey, head of marketing and sales at Nissan Australia, has left the company.

His departure follows an announcement by Nissan Australia’s MD and CEO Dan Thompson that the Japanese carmaker has ambitions to become the number one car importer in Australia by 2013.

Stuckey, who was executive general manager of marketing and sales, joined Nissan two years ago from Wesfarmers where he was general manager of marketing services.

His duties, which were brand and model line marketing, national sales, product planning and dealer performance, have been transferred to Thompson temporarily while the company searches for a replacement.

Nissan’s head of corporate communications Jeff Fisher, told Mumbrella: “We have ambitious plans for the medium term. Dan has said that a greater degree of urgency is needed to achieve our goals.”

Fisher added that there was “no suggestion” that Stuckey’s replacement would review Nissan’s agency relationships in Australia. Globally-aligned TBWA handles Nissan’s advertising.

In the last 12 months, Whybin\TBWA\Melbourne’s work for Nissan has included a spot featuring Bear Grylls for the Nissan X-Trail and a spot for Nissan Micra carrying the slogan ‘In sync with the city’ .
