Not so icy send off for Nova’s Merrick & Rosso and Kate Ritchie
It was suppose to be a winter wonderland-themed morning for Nova’s outgoing breakfast team, Merrick & Rosso and Kate Ritchie, but instead they woke up, perhaps fittingly, to torrential rain.
The three were due to spend their final Tuesday show at an outside broadcast on Bondi Beach, joining the Bondi Ice Age Freeze to help promote the Blu-ray/DVD release of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
They had planned to wheel out eight tonnes of snow, a toboggan slide and a specially made 2.5 metre Ice Age glass Christmas tree onto the beach.
It was also suppose to be the opportunity for Nova fans to say goodbye to Tim Ross and Ritchie, who would not be returning to the slot next year.
And with Merrick & Rosso plagued by rumours of constant fighting and jealous clashes, for some the irony of the icy farewell would not have been lost. But in the end, the gods proved more determined to rain on their parade, as the three were forced to remain huddled in the safety of their Pyrmont studio.
