Nova CMO Tony Thomas resigns

Nova Entertainment’s chief marketing officer Tony Thomas has resigned, effective tomorrow.

Thomas has been with the network since 2010 and was involved in the launch of Smooth FM, Nova’s Red Room and Goat.com.au.

Thomas has been with Nova for nine years

Thomas joined DMG Radio before it rebranded to Nova Entertainment in 2014. Prior to that, he was in a contract role with Coles as head of advertising and media, a position he took after founding social media agency The Population.

Before The Population, he held roles at NineMSN and PepsiCo.

Nova Entertainment CEO Cathy O’Connor said Thomas had played a ‘critical role’ in the success of the business.

“Since 2010, Tony has played a critical role in the development, growth and success of NOVA. We are incredibly grateful for the contribution he has made. His achievements include rebranding dmg Radio to NOVA Entertainment, helping take Nova to the number one national network and developing an outstanding team of marketing professionals,” said O’Connor.

Thomas said his time with the business had been full of highlights and he was proud to have taken part in some of the big launches Nova had undergone.

“There are so many highlights of my time at NOVA Entertainment such as launching the hugely successful Smooth FM radio brand, the invention of Nova’s Red Room, leading the GOAT.com.au launch and importantly building a team of marketing professionals who are the best in the media business,” said Thomas.

A replacement hasn’t yet been announced.
