Nova puts Claire Marshall in new role of Music Marketing Director
Nova Entertainment has created a new role of music marketing director and appointed Claire Marshall to do the job.
Marshall has been the music director and assistant program director at Nova 93.7 Perth since December 2011 and has over 18 years experience in programming and on air.
As music marketing director Marshall will be responsible for Nova Entertainment’s music content development, and leveraging music artists and events into commercial marketing opportunities.
Paul Jackson, Nova Entertainment Group program director said: “We are delighted to be able to promote within our team, it’s a great reflection of the talent we have within the company, and we can’t wait for Claire to join the team in Sydney.”
Marshall started her career with Southern Cross Austereo as a night presenter of Triple M’s Top 40 and then moved to the UK where she presented the drive show on Star 107.3.
She joined the newly launched Nova 93.7 Perth in 2003 as assistant music director and announcer and was made music director in 2006. In 2008 she moved to Melbourne to host the drive show on Nova Entertainment’s Vega, now SmoothFM, and returned to her job as music director at Nova Perth in 2010.
She said in a statement that Nova Entertainment, formerly DMG Radio, is “one of the most dynamic media companies”.
“I have lived and breathed the brand in a programming and music capacity for many years so I am very excited about this new role,” Marshall said. “I’ve been fortunate to form relationships with some incredible people in the music industry and I’m looking forward to working closely with them to create and extend on unique and mutually beneficial opportunities.”
Marshall will move to Sydney to take up her new role commencing April 28.
A radio station that plays music deciding to appoint a ‘music marketing director’ is kind of a tautology, no?

Do the artists get any say in this? Cash for comment? Sorry, I have no idea what is role is all about. Sounds like the so-called “agency strategists” are asleep at the wheel again if this is a required hire by the station.
