Nova to launch national breakfast show during June

DMG Radio’s Nova network will air a national breakfast show featuring Nova Melbourne’s Dylan Lewis, comedian Dave Thornton and Nova Brisbane’s Meshel Laurie, during the off-ratings period in June.

The three will front the show from June 15 to the 25th, from 6 to 9am weekdays.

Last year, the Nova stations went to air with local presenters during that time slot and included “best of” segments.

The announcement follows a similar move during the last Christmas break, which saw Lewis, Thornton and Australian actress Sophie Monk fill the national breakfast slot between December 7  to 25.

Nova said it made the decision to air a live breakfast show, rather than “best of” packages in response to listeners’ demand for original content, in spite it being a ratings off season.

Lewis hosts mornings on Nova Melbourne and co-hosts Network Ten’s Video Hits.

Thornton recently filled in with Laurie and Tim Blackwell in breakfast on Nova Brisbane and is a regular on its Melbourne station.

Laurie is also a regular on Ten’s Good News Week, The Circle and ABC1’s Spicks and Specks.
