Nova’s Ben & Liam to broadcast from helicopter

Nova Entertainment’s Adelaide breakfast radio show, Ben & Liam, will broadcast from a helicopter.

The announcement:

Planes, trains and automobiles – what’s next for Nova 919’s Ben & Liam breakfast show in 2021? After recently broadcasting their radio show while suspended from a billboard, the boys will now take their show to new heights after securing their own station helicopter!

When COVID first struck last year and swarms of Adelaideans were asked to “stay home”, Nova’s Ben & Liam sprang into action, purchasing a clapped-out old Limousine (the Ben & Liam-o) to drop essential items to listeners around Adelaide.

Fast forward to 2021, and fresh of the back of their eye-catching show from a billboard, Ben & Liam decided it was time to take things up a notch.

On a mission to “go big or go home” Liam decided to sell their much-loved Ben & Liam-o to raise funds to buy a new form of transport for the show, their very own helicopter. With the sale of the limo ‘not exactly’ securing the type of funds needed, Ben & Liam turned their attention to fundraising. While popular with listeners, their Lemonade Stand & Car Wash attracted attention but not the kind of cash they were looking for, leaving the boys with a lot more work to do.

Frustrated with their lack of progress to-date, Liam decided it was time to put the call out on air to see if any of their loyal listeners had a “spare” helicopter they could borrow. Luckily for Ben & Liam, Shane Yeend from Adelaide Flight school “Helistar” answered the call, offering to loan the boys a helicopter to act as the show’s very own.

Upon answering the boys’ call for help, Shane Yeend said: “I’m a shareholder in an aviation group. We have a fleet, we run everything from the Westpac helicopter, flying schools and probably the largest aviation group in South Australia. We’ve got a shed full of them down the beach…what colour do you want?”

After confirming the details, a visibly excited Liam claimed: “Can we just give me a bit of a clap because I just managed to turn minus seventy dollars and some pizza into a 1.4 million dollar chopper?”

Taking to the sky, the Nova 919 Ben & Liam Chopper is open for business to transport listeners to school, uni, work or wherever they need to go. Tune into Nova 919’s Ben & Liam breakfast show from 6am to 9am weekdays, check out all the action at novafm.com.au or on Ben & Liam’s Instagram or Adelaide listeners can text 0400 919 919 to secure a ride in Ben & Liam’s Chopper.
