Noyce and Jolie top Oovie machine rentals

Phillip Noyce’s Hollywood comeback film, the action thriller Salt (starring Angelina Jolie) was the most rented title of 2010 at Oovie DVD rental machines, while Tomorrow, When the War Began was the top Australian film.

According to marketing director Karli Smith, users of the Hoyts-owned machines favoured action over other genres, with six out of the top 10 films being big budget action movies.

Oovie’s top 10 DVD rentals were:

  1. Salt – which earned U$293m worldwide during its theatrical run.
  2. Inception
  3. Iron Man 2
  4. Knight and Day
  5. Get Him to the Greek
  6. Killers
  7. Grown Ups
  8. Robin Hood
  9. Toy Story 3
  10. The A-Team

And the top 10 Australian films were:

1. Tomorrow When The War Began
2. Animal Kingdom
3. I Love You Too
4. Kings Of Mykonos
5. Underbelly: The Golden Mile
6. Beneath Hill 60
7. Bran Nue Dae
8. Boys Are Back
9. Beautiful Kate
10. Blessed

In other news, Oovie will donate 20 percent of all revenue generated from its $2.99 rentals on Sunday January 16th to the Queensland flood relief fund.
