Ogilvy PR hires Katherine Scott as first planning director

Katherine Scott OgilvyOgilvy has become one of the first Australian public relations agencies to appoint a planning director.

Katherine Scott will become strategy and planning director across all of Ogilvy PR’s Australian brands including Howorth, Impact Employee Communications, Ogilvy PR Health, Parker & Partners and Pulse Communications.

While the planning director role – albeit with a variety of job titles – is commonplace for advertising and media agencies, it is a rarity in PR.

Scott, originally from New Zealand, was previously associate director of British PR agency Fishburn Hedges.

Ogilvy PR’s CEO Kieran Moore said: “Strategic planning for clients is becoming increasingly important in the PR industry. Katherine has both the experience across multiple sectors and an outstanding track record of delivering outstanding work for some of the biggest UK brands and organisations.

Scott said: “Very few barriers still exist between traditional communication disciplines. Strategic planning is no longer a mysterious art form reserved for the ‘paid-for’ world.”
