Olympics coverage dominates Sunday evening TV

Seven’s broadcast of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games saw 1.179m metro viewers tune in from 9:00am to be the most-watched non-news program of Sunday.

In Rio Today, Seven’s Olympics wrap-up which airs at 7:00pm, grabbed 1.175m while the evening broadcast of the games, which kicks off from 9:00pm, was watched by 932,000.

Seven easily won the night with an audience share of 29.3%, ahead of Nine’s share of 15.5%. while the ABC claimed a share of 11.5% and Ten settled for a share of 9.7%.

Nine’s 60 Minutes pulled in 919,000 metro viewers at 7:00pm with 550,000 watching David Attenborough’s The Hunt, which aired on Nine from 8:00pm.

On Ten, All Star Family Feud at 7:30pm grabbed 457,000 while Ten’s 8:30pm movie The Heat was watched by 382,000.

In the news battleground, Seven News pulled in 1.525m at 6:00pm while Nine News at 6:00pm saw 1.123m tune in.

On the ABC, Grand Designs New Zealand at 7:30pm was watched by 755,000 and Wallander at 8:30pm grabbed 595,000.
