Omny’s Matt Saraceni joins Telstra

Matt Saraceni, head of content at on-demand audio publishing platform Omny Studio, has departed the company after two and half years to take on a new role with Telstra.

Matt Saraceni departs Omny Studio

Saraceni will be joining Telstra early next month as a community manager within the chief technology officer’s innovation team next month.

He told Mumbrella: “The Telstra role is a step up for me – working across innovation for Australia’s largest technology company is a huge opportunity.

“I’ll still be working with startups, which is what I loved about Omny – watching that business grow in a burgeoning industry like podcasting. However, I’m looking forward to being introduced to the calibre of partnerships Telstra has in Australia.”

On leaving Omny after two and a half years, he said: “The decision to leave was me approaching 2017 as an open book – staying with podcasting was an attractive option as I believe the industry will professionalise and grow even more in Australia this year – but the decision to level up professionally and work more broadly at the intersect of technology and innovation was what prompted the final choice.”

Saraceni said there is “no word” on his replacement yet.

“I leave behind wonderful founders Long Zheng and Andrew Armstrong (who make the best audio tech in the world) and a great team like our CEO Sharon Taylor and my colleague Mitch Secrett who are gearing up for a busy year, albeit a lot busier without me!”

Prior to Omny, Saracei worked with Nova, joining the radio company as a nights radio host in Perth in January 2008.

In January 2010 he moved to Sydney to take on the national nights radio host before being promoted in January 2011 to breakfast radio host in Adelaide.

From 2012 to September 2014 he was Nova’s mornings producer in Melbourne.
