Online influencer course Crushfame launches with lessons from Gabby Epstein
Crushfame, an online platform selling courses on how to become a successful influencer has launched with its first course from famous influencer Gabby Epstein, who has an Instagram following of 1.8m.
Launching its first course this week, Instagram-famous Epstein shared 51 video lessons covering how to make a successful Instagram account, photography tips and tricks, the best apps and photo filters to use, when to post, how to build a following, managing negativity and body image and getting perks and freebies.
The Australian startup sells each course for $96.55 which includes 51 video lessons, a 16-page playbook, a media kit Instagrammers can use to get paid, and access to the Crushfame academy for ongoing support.
The course is 2.5 hours with options available to specialise in becoming a fashion blogger, health and fitness influencer, travel influencer and vlogging expert.
Matt Sterne, co-founder of Crushfame, said in a statement: “We started by asking each other why no-one had yet created the “how to” of social media influencers in a rich and engaging format from actual influencers themselves and not from a corporate voice.”
“A common trait shared among the top influencers we’ve met is a very different mindset on what it takes to develop your own personal brand online and live life on your terms. We felt this needed to be explored,” his co-founder Jarrad Collings added.
Crushfame is available online and as an app for mobile and tablets.
Now there’s an idea. While I can’t understand this whole influencer/instagrammer thing, I think you are onto something.

Not sure I want my daughters emulating this young woman at all. It would appear from looking at her own profile, the advice about increasing followers, likes and comments results in increased engagement with real and/or bot-generated likes and sexually-explicit comments. Ms Epstein appears to tolerate these comments in order to maintain “quantity over quality”. Is there a lesson somewhere amongst the 51 that teaches would-be influencers about morals, self-respect and warnings against believing that numbers of “followers” on a screen equates with success and “value”. Surely the lessons raised by Essena O’neill back in 2015 are not already forgotten…

Hi @naivemum you have raised some very valid points.
Like anyone online with a significant following on social media, Gabby has had her share of negativity and unwanted attention which are very important issues discussed at length in the course – as well as healthy body image, the foundations of family and a support network.

CrushFame Thank you for your response. I commend your aims to provide a whole audience with credible, moral and useful information, however your aims would appear to be disregarded in this instance. Gabby obviously does not practise what she teaches, and the sexually-explicit comments and sexualised innuendo in regular comments on her profile certainly do not appear to be a case of “unwanted attention”. Perhaps she could be tutored in the use of the “block” and “remove” buttons. Again, I am really supportive of CrushFame’s intentions, however, we will wait to see if other influencers’ programs (and profiles) are more credible and authentic before purchasing any of your programs
