Osher Günsberg unveiled as Connect Hearing ambassador

Osher Günsberg  has been named as the Connect Hearing ambassador in a campaign launched by We Are Otter.

The announcement:

Osher Günsberg, host of The Masked Singer and Bachelor franchise, has been appointed as ambassador for Connect Hearing, accompanied by a social campaign from recently launched creative agency We Are Otter.

The Channel Ten star was diagnosed with hearing loss 10 years ago and has been wearing hearing aids for the last five years. As part of its mission to empower all Australians with hearing loss, Connect Hearing, which has a national network of healthcare hearing clinics, has engaged Osher to share his story of hearing impairment.

Osher said: “I talk about my hearing loss quite a bit and am genuinely excited to work with the Connect Hearing team to promote the importance of taking control of your hearing and staying switched on and connected to those around you.”

Connect Hearing head of marketing, Natasha Wright added: “Osher is a natural brand fit, not only due to his personal story of not letting hearing loss get in the way of a successful life and career, but also due to his dedication to resetting the narrative and encouraging all to take an empowered approach to their hearing health.”

We Are Otter developed the strategy and creative for the social campaign which is running across Facebook and Instagram.

Jen Peace, co-founder at We Are Otter said: “There is still a degree of unnecessary stigma around hearing loss and this means the average Australian can wait up to seven years before taking the steps toward diagnosis. Working with passionate, non-stereotypical ambassadors such as Osher will help turn the tide toward making a hearing test as ‘normal’ as an annual eye check-up.”

Simon Jarosz, co-founder at We Are Otter said: “This isn’t about gimmicks. It’s about Osher sharing his own, very typical, story of reluctance, denial and ultimately empowerment. He makes us rethink hearing loss and take control, a message we wanted to hero to inspire many to take the first step and visit Connect Hearing.”
