Pacific Magazines’ commercial director Prue Cox resigns

Pacific Magazines’ commercial director Prue Cox has resigned from the company after 15 months to join LinkedIn, Mumbrella can reveal.

A former NewsLifeMedia executive, Cox joined the publishing giant in July last year, replacing Gereurd Roberts, who was then appointed as general manager of food family and home.

Roberts was later appointed as CEO of Pacific Magazines.

Prior to Pacific Magazines, Cox was chief commercial officer at NewsLifeMedia for five months and was also formerly managing director of taste.com.au and kidspot.com.au.

Nicole Bence, commercial strategy and solutions director will step in as interim commercial director.

In an email circulated around Pacific Magazines this morning, Roberts wrote:

“Prue has been an asset to Pacific over the last 15 months, helping drive the transformation of our business in the commercial space. We would like to thank Prue for all her hard work and commitment during this time.

“In the interim I am pleased to announce Nicole Bence will step into the role as Acting Commercial Director, until we name a permanent replacement. This will ensure we maintain the consistency and momentum necessary to continue the drive towards our Q2 targets, which are number one priority for us all and must remain our focus. Prue and Nicole are working on a full and thorough handover, so we should not skip a beat.”

Cox said she was looking forward to seeing the Pacific Magazines team deliver “many great successes in the near future”.

“I loved my time at Pacific and over the last 15 months, Pacific has achieved many goals,” Cox said.

“The team at Pacific have an exciting future and great leadership is in place.”

In August, Pacific Magazines reported annual revenue of $168m, down by 16.5% from FY16’s $201.2m.

Earnings before interest and tax  (EBIT) fell 61.% from $9m to $3m.

At the same time, Bauer Media has seen several executive management departures. Following a restructure last month, general manager of BauerWorks Eugene Varricchio left Bauer Media.

Earlier this year, Bauer Media’s CEO Nick Chan exited the company. He was replaced by Bauer New Zealand CEO Paul Dykzeul.

Cox will finish with Pacific Magazines on October 27.
