Legdin quits Pacific Magazines

Fiona Legdin, publisher of Pacific Magazines’ weekly brands including New Idea, has resigned from the magazine publisher with CEO Peter Zavecz to take over her responsibilities until a replacement can be found.

Her departure was announced to staff via an email from Zavecz, in which he said: “In recent years Fiona has steered some of our most profitable titles on their journey to become leading multi-media brands.

“Across New Idea and That’s Life! we now have combined monthly audience impressions in excess of 7 million.”

Legdin was responsible for Pacific Magazines’ weekly brands New Idea, That’s Life and Who.

Zavecz said Legdin was a “valued member” of the executive team and that “her leadership skills, experience and passion for the teams and brands within her portfolio will be greatly missed”.

Legdin has not made an announcement about her future plans.

The email to staff:

Dear All,

It is with sadness that I announce the resignation of Fiona Legdin, Publisher of Pacific Magazines Weekly brands, including our flagship New Idea, number one real life title, that’s life! and market leading celebrity news weekly, WHO.

In recent years Fiona has steered some of our most profitable titles on their journey to becoming leading multi-media brands. Across New Idea and that’s life! we now have combined monthly audience impressions in excess of 7 million.

Fiona co-led the early partnership in Pacific’s new ecommerce food delivery venture and she was also involved as non-executive director on the foundation board of Starts at 60.  She was publisher of Pacific’s highly profitable puzzle division and the commercially successful Australia, The Story of Us, book series. Fiona has been a valued member of the executive team, her leadership skills, experience and passion for the teams and brands within her portfolio will be greatly missed.

In the interim I will resume responsibility for the Weekly titles.

Fiona has not yet made an announcement about her future plans, but I want to personally thank Fiona for her dedication and commitment to Pacific and wish her well in her next move.
