Pacific uses SBS content to dish up high-end food magazine

Seven Media Group’s Pacific Magazines is to launch a food magazine that ties in with SBS cooking shows. The as yet unnamed monthly will most closely rival Gourmet Traveller in the high-end segment, according to sources.

The magazine will include content from the likes of Food Safari, Zumbo, Tetsuya’s Pursuit of Excellence and Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam, and not be tied to an individual SBS show.

The magazine, which will be Pacific’s first dedicated food title, will appear in the Spring with a target circulation of 50,000. An editor has yet to be confirmed.

Nick Chan, CEO of Pacific Magazine admitted that while the food category is crowded, Pacific Magazines and SBS have identified a market in readers who are “confident cooks, enjoy trying new things, enjoy travelling and like to experience life through food.”
